I have never
experienced more active hands on ministry than that of the biblical
application of the "Dirt Crew" ministry.
After the excitement
of receiving Christ many Christians experience an absence of the
abundant life God's Word promises. Many find themselves surviving
through a sermon, message or class wondering where is this so called
abundant life in Christ and "when do we eat". The truth
is that the abundant life is found in an active intimate relationship
with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The "Dirt
Crew" ministry is a fresh but classical way to experience the
promised abundant life in Christ by seeking Him through the daily
study of His Word, prayer, serving the Lord through service to the
world as an ambassador of Christ, and sharing His eternal life saving
gospel to real people of today, in the heart of today's cities,
in real life face to face evangelism.
As a youth minister
I have personally been blessed to see firsthand the spiritual growth
and excitement of students within my youth group as they began experiencing
a real "life in Christ" through the biblical teachings
as presented in the "Dirt Crew" ministry.
The "Dirt
Crew" ministry has been something the students can get excited
about, something they can see, and most important for students,
it is something they can DO. Not only are students being taught,
and reading God's Word, but the "Dirt Crew" experience
enables them to take biblical teachings out of the pages of the
bible, an actively implement them into their lives TODAY.
Students want
something to do with their new life in Christ. The "Dirt Crew"
ministry allows my students that ability. I continue to personally
witness students experience the humility and compassion that Christ
might have felt in service to the poor and sick, as the students
themselves do the same in local homeless shelters, retirement homes,
and local service projects.
As I have implemented
the "Dirt Crew" teachings within our student ministry
I continue to witness the heart of the students change for the lost
as they enter the city of Atlanta to have one to one witnessing
experiences sharing the gospel, tackling all the tough questions
of today about God, who He is, what He did, and why. I
have seen the joy on student faces as they experience the blessed
opportunity to personally be used by God to share the gospel and
lead someone to an eternal life with Christ.
In addition
to the personal spiritual growth of existing students I have seen
them share their excitement with their friends at school and seen
the youth department grow as a result. My thoughts are why reinvent
the wheel when it's already been laid out in the pages of the bible,
by the Master himself, Jesus.
Barry Dollar
has brought a unique biblical way to experience a real life in Christ.
His challenge is "Come and get your Hands Dirty". He calls
it the "Dirt Crew" and I can personally say "The
Dirt Crew Works!!!"
