"Is
it alright if we go and witness to some people?"
It
was just another winter ski retreat; we had stopped for the afternoon
ritual of grooming of the slopes. The plan was that all the students
would meet at the lodge to eat dinner and "hang out" until
the slopes were opened for the evening session. I will never forget
it. Three of my students came up to me and asked, "Hey, is
it o.k. if we want to witness to people while we're waiting?"
"I've
invited my friends; can you bring the church bus?"
Can you picture this? It's Wednesday afternoon and you get a call
from one of your students. They say, "I've invited a bunch
of friends but we can't get them all in my mom's car. Can you drive
the church bus over here to pick them up?
"When can we do another mission project?"
These are the kinds of questions being asked on a regular basis.
It's never, "When are we gonna do something fun?" Seems
amazing but with an average of about 20-30 students showing up to
do missions, The D.I.R.T. Crew in Marietta piled up over 10,000
man hours of community service in only three years!
